I wanted a small leather messenger and had been admiring Cambridge satchels and other similar bags before settling on the Fossil Vintage Reissue Flap Bag with Lock. It’s a gorgeous shade of vintage red with brown stitching and edgecoat. It has a top handle and a long strap and that can be crossbody or a long shoulder strap. It would be easy to get more holes made on the strap if you needed to adjust the length. It’s probably a hair too small for carrying 8.5 x 11 documents or files. The notepad just barely fits. Otherwise it holds my usual stuff pretty well – It’s holding right now a medium wallet, 2 pouches, 3 pens, a small notepad, keys, a smartphone, a card case and my sony reader. It’s not finished as well as some of my other bags but is a one for the price.
One of the things I love is that it’s much less logo covered than the usual Fossil Bags.
There is a smaller front slip pocket – I wish this one were gusseted. My keys make it kind of bulgy.
In the main compartment there are two smartphone sized pockets on the front. On the back there is a gusseted pocket the full size of the back of the bag and also a zip pocket on the front of that. The gusseted pockets fits my Sony t1 reader well and would probably just fit an I pad.
There is also a slip pocket on the back of the bag that closes with a magnet.
It just fits a 8.5 x 11 in notepad.
It comes with a key charm and a lock charm. I took them off because they make noise and were driving me crazy.
A close up of the antique brass hardware.
