A quick review today of some drugstore polish brands – Confetti and Nabi.
Confetti Tasmanian Devil, Nabi New Black Glitter, Jumbo Iris Glitter, Blue Star
Confetti polish is sold at CVS and after seeing Tasmanian Devil on a blog I decided to pick it up as my old bottle of multicolor glitter was sad. I’ve tried a couple of Confetti shimmers and they were insanely sheer but Tasmanian Devil has a decent amount of glitter and looks pretty good with 2 medium coats. It’s available at CVS for $1.99.

Nabi polishes are sold at Rite Aid and also on ebay – I bought mine from seller shopnabi. They seem to have lots of fancy large glitter polishes like hearts and stars. One thing to note – the swatches on the nabi cosmetics page didn’t match the polishes very well – the bottle photos on ebay seller shopnabi’s listing though are pretty clear and accurate. I picked 3 to try – New Black Glitter, Jumbo Iris Glitter, and Blue Star. The bottles on these were quite nice and don’t look as cheap as many drugstore polishes. The large cap may be difficult for some people to use though. All three polishes have a thick texture to hold the glitter and they do have a fairly strong solvent smell.
First up is Blue Star – it has a blue – black jelly base with silver mircoglitter, silver bar glitter and pink and purple small glitter. It’s my least favorite of the three. The swatch on the Nabi page makes it look like a sheer blue purple opalescent color but that’s not the case at all.

Next up is Iris Jumbo Glitter a black based polish with several sizes of silver, blue and fuschia glitter. This one was the best of the bunch by far and looked the most like the bottle after 2 coats. It would be fabulous over black or a dark color.

Last up is Nabi New Black Glitter. This one also has a dark base but looks more brown / black with gold microglitter giving it a bronzish sheen. The little round glitters are pink and the bar glitter is silver though there seems to be less of it than in Blue Star. Again it’s a bit different from the Nabi swatch where the rounds look more red and the bar glitter is more obvious.
