Like many others I was very sad when Nerd Lacquers disappeared last fall. Her Etsy shop closed, her Google plus page went unupdated and her polishes slowly disappeared from retailers. Her polishes were complex sparkly and amazing and so easy to apply. I thought I might be doomed to have to deal with insane prices on ebay or the headache of swapping if I ever wanted to see another one.
I am happy to report that she’s back and selling again! These are polishes from the first of my three orders. The Eye and the Ring are new and the others are filling holes in my collection. Want to get a hold of you own Nerds? Check out the Nerd Lacquer google plus page for updates from Amanda. She sells at Nerdlacquer.com (you can sell the colors but they are probably all OOS right now). Harlow and Company in Canada and Ninja Polish in the US will both be stocking polish soon and they have exclusive colors.
On to swatches! Unless I mention it all swatches are 2 regular coats, completely dry with no topcoat.
Above are Cold and Calculating from the Star Trek Collection and I Think You Call Me … Sexy from the Dr Who Set.
Cold is a dusty purple with silver glitter and brighter purple glitters. Mine is a bit more toward the plum red / brown side than some versions I’ve seen. Sexy is a gorgeous intense Tardis blue. There is silver glitter, bright blue and also tiny red ones.
New for her relaunch is the Lord of the Rings collection. There are three colors, The Ring, The Eye and TDBSLWCHSHITD short for THE DWARF BREATHES SO LOUD WE COULD HAVE SHOT HIM IN THE DARK. TDBSLWCHSHITD is still on its way to me so I have the Eye and the Ring swatches for you.
The Ring is soft antique gold with large gold hexes, and small gold and orange glitters and possibly some tiny ones that flash fucshia in certain lights. There is an opalescent sheen to it that flashes reddish that my camera seems to be useless at capturing. The gold base seems almost a touch green and a bit sickly at times which would be appropriate given its namesake.
The Eye is has a glowing orange base with black and gold glitters. I think it is my favorite from this order possibly also because of the eye sticker on the bottle cap.
Last few! Carbon Allotrope has diamond dust in it and is a grey base with silver glitter. I thought that this one used to be more clear but both bottles I own have this gray base. I should have bought a back up Holy Grail instead or if you want gray with silver go for Don’t Blink.
Schism and Exterminate are also from the Dr Who Series. Schism is in a warm bronzy base with gold, copper black, tiny red and color shifting glitter. I think this is my next manicure. Exterminate is a cooler brown/ bronze base with gold, light blue and black glitters.
